For You I Will
Here's my newest story as posted on the fanfiction board. It's sorta... random. : D
Title: For You I Will
Author: Moose
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Somewhat intense thematic content toward the end as well as strong language
Summary: An interesting turn of events at Nigel's birtday party leads Benji to do something unexpected (I doubt it's anything you'd think of with that summary - Sorry : ( )
1) Okay, first of all, I hope I've posted this in the right place this time!
2) Please go read my other story, 'Distractions', if you haven't, already (and comment) : D
3) I got the name from what it says under one of Benji's pictures on his MySpace.
4) I should be doing homework right now, as it's almost midnight, and I still have quite a lot to finish, so please at least be kind enough to leave comments! : D
5) I really hate words such as 'fag' (I'm VERY pro gay rights), but I wanted to make Tahir seem like an ass. I know we don't know him, and he's probably a decent guy, but this is the world of Benjelle, and this is my story, garsh darnit! Besides, we all know she loves Benji more : D.
6) Um... Dunno what else to say... I love you all! : D

The evening of Nigel's birthday party was one that brought upon a torrential wind of change. Relationships shattered. Friendships shifted. Tahir had agreed, with persuasion, to drop Donyelle off, yet refused to attend the festivities by her side. This was one occasion for which she was grateful for his stubborn demeanor. Things had been tense between the two, as of late. As the show expanded exponentially in its popularity, he began to pull back from her, wary of her emerging fame. They had become more distant. When together, they fought. This wasn't love.
Donyelle walked into the party feeling greatly out of place, as though she were dropping in for free orderbs, rather than to see the man of the hour. She snuck through the crowds in search of fellow contestants, though unsure of her course of action when she came to find them. She had made friends among the competitors with ease, yet she remained unsure, her insecurities accompanying her every move in a flood that could drown all the spring flowers. Though all of the Top 20 shared a love for dance, she was well aware that she had little in common with those petite contemporary dancers who were her fellows, her peers, and, as she was painfully reminded, her competition.
Eventually, she came to spot Martha and Jason, choosing o make her way over to where they stood. As she began to converse with the two, she was startled to feel two strong hands wrapping from behind her, surprising her with their gentle touch as they covered her eyes. "Guess who..." the culprit voiced in an artificially low timbre. she could only laugh.
"Hello, Benji!" she responded cheerfully, though with that sigh in her voice that an impatient teacher acquires when addressing the class clown. As she turned in his arms to face him, she saw the pitiful expression of mock disappointment that he wore. She could only smile, moving in to kiss him tenderly on the cheek. She would swear his grin had stretched well beyond the limits of his face as he broke his flimsy resolve. Nodding his head toward Jason and Martha, he lead her away with him. She didn't complain.
The two circulated the group, arms linked, smiling at those they passed while leaving little comments and jokes. Eventually, Donyelle began to wonder what his plan was. "Benji, where are we going?" she asked, laughing to herself as she struggled to keep up with his steadily increasing pace. They had recently diverged from the larger pool of guests, walking further out in the courtyard. He did not offer her a verbal response, opting instead to merely face her with that Cheshire Cat grin he seemed to wear whenever she was around.
They continued their quiet stroll in a comforting peace, both feeling content and warm simply because they were near. At last, they came to a small, secluded garden, a fountain at its center. Benji walked toward it, sitting down upon its tiled rim, reaching down to skim his fingers across the surface of the water. He returned his gaze to her, beckoning her quietly with his eyes. Just to make clear his desire, he brought his hand to gently touch the open place beside him. She accepted his invitation, choosing to sit as close to his body as she could physically manage without sitting on top of him. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, prompting her to rest her head upon him.
They sat that way for well over an hour, basking in the warmth of their presence and the comfortable silence that accompanied it as they watched the sun go down. Alas, the exhaustion of recent rehearsals won over the battle they had been fighting for days. Both were taken by sleep, knowing by the presence of the other that it was okay.
The party wound down, and the guests began to dwindle. Heidi was beginning to feel the confusion at her cousin's absence, and was more than anxious to find him, as he was to be her ride to the hotel. She inquired around the few dispersed groups that remained in the courtyard, having no luck with their responses. Finally, Martha was able to point her in the direction that the two had headed in some time ago. She followed Martha's gesture, walking until she came to the garden.
A smile graced her features as she watched them in sleep. It had become clear that Benji had more-than-friendly feelings for his partner, and she was suddenly overjoyed to see that Donyelle, quite evidently, reciprocated them. She knew she could not bare to see him hurt, once more. Gently, she approached them, placing a gentle touch on the shoulder unoccupied, waking him from his slumber. He awoke with a startled jump, sending himself falling backwards into the fountain, and taking his partner with him.
Donyelle was awoken in a rather abrupt and unpleasant manner, but, upon realizing the situation, she broke into a fit of laughter, falling back into the water from where she had attempted to rise. "Oh my gosh, Donyelle, I'm so sorry!" Benji rushed out, wading over to her to help her up. She looked at him as he approached, her laughter only intensifying at the expression of worry and remorse that appeared on his face. He looked confused at first, but soon joined in. Heidi walked over to them, shaking her head though the smile she wore was evident, and helping them rise from their watery sanctum. The three walked back toward the courtyard, unable to cease in the expression of their amusement.
As they neared the final guests, their path was intercepted by Allison, a slightly worried look upon her face. "There you are, Donyelle! Some man was here asking for you... I get the feeling its best if you don't arrive together..." Unfortunately, her advice came but a second too late, as could be presumed by the look on Donyelle's face as she gazed over her comrade's shoulder. She abruptly dropped the hand of Benji's that she had intwined with her own.
Tahir walked closer to the four, daggers in his eyes. "Did you go for a little swim, my dear?" he questioned bitterly as he yanked her hand into his own.
She stared at him blankly, as she stuttered out her response, "No, there, uh, there was... Fountain, and, and, uh, Heidi's hand... Benji... And then, and then we sorta..." Heidi was sure she saw Tahir growl at the three of them as she spat out those words.
"We're leaving," he said, " Say goodbye to your pitiful little friend here, and let's go. I don't want Mr. faggy church boy worming his slimy way any closer to my girl." Donyelle turned to him in shock. She pulled he hand away from his, only to have him grab her arm, instead. "Let's go," he reemphasized through gritted teeth.
"Let go of me," she told him forcefully, "I'm not going anywhere with you!" his grip tightened through her struggles. Benji looked on in horror, able to see her arm redden from the touch. As he saw this man dragging his Donny away from them, a pleading look in her eyes, his state of shock was broken.
"Hey!" he screamed, "Let her go!" He began to run after them, but Tahir was picking up his pace, Donyelle stumbling unwillingly in his wake. Eventually, Tahir tired of her struggles, pulling on her arm as she tried to run to Benji, eventually hearing it crack. Benji saw the pain in her eyes, and something within him snapped. He'd always been the good Mormon boy who knew that violence could solve nothing, yet, at that point in time, he would have loved nothing more than to kill this bastard who was messing with his love. He ran at the guy, punching him in the nose.
"Holy fuck!" Tahir screamed, losing his grip on Donyelle's arm. She squirmed free of his grasp, running over to where the other two had remained. As Tahir stood in shock over what had just happened, holding his bleeding nose, Benji took the opportunity to push him to the ground. His hands grabbed the shoulders of his shirt, gripping the fabric tightly so as to ensure that he could not escape. He was overpowered by a desire to beat this man who laid beneath him, but realized he was being steered by the blindness of his rage. As much as he wanted to at that moment, he could not brutalize him any further. He prayed in his mind for God's guidance, aid, and forgiveness as he leaned over to snarl in Tahir's face, "Don't you EVER come near her again..."
Sirens were heard as the police arrived at the scene, coming just at the right time to see Benji above Tahir, still gripping his shirt in anger. They approached to handcuff him, seeing enough evidence to take him in for assault. Fortunately, Donyelle, who had up until that point been rendered speechless with horror, spoke up, explaining the turn of events as she struggled to keep her tears at bay. In the end, Benji was let off on a warning, and Tahir was arrested in his place.
Donyelle remained in shock, but as the relief broke through to her, the intense reminder of the pain managed to, as well. She gripped her arm, wincing and emitting a small cry of anguish. They all rushed to her side, fighting against her protests, and, in the end, convincing her to allow them to take her to the hospital. As her arm was casted, Benji waited in the hallway of the hospital. The night's events began to flash in his mind, bringing about a torrent of various emotions and thoughts. The pleasure returned to him at the memory of the scene in the garden. He could not withhold his laugh as he realized that, after all that had happened at the end of the night, he remained soaked through. Finally there was anger, there was fury, there was pain. He knew he had betrayed his values in what he had done, but realized with slight reproach that he would do the same. Had he betrayed God tonight?
His last thought was interrupted as the door beside him opened to reveal Donyelle. He nearly stumbled back at that intensity that flooded her eyes. She needed no words. In one swift movement, she closed the space between them, bringing her lips to meet forcefully with his. it was a hungry kiss, one of passion and confusion. He could feel her shaking as she moved her lips across his own, and as her tongue begged him for response. He felt the pain she knew, allowing her to be the first to take each step, though happily following her lead. They stood there as they drank in the taste of each other. Their tongues continued their fervent dance, as they expressed more in their actions than they could with words. Their movements said "thank you," "I'm sorry," and "I'm here for you." They questioned if each was okay. Above all else, they told with certainty, "I love you."
